Hats, Canes and Tennis Shoes (Lifestyle Portraits)

How about a lifestyle portrait of seniors at the park.

I took this in Jacksonville Florida at Stockton park in the Ortega area. These seniors just sat there and never said a word to each other the whole time I was there. They looked around but always had the same look on their faces. This is how they spend their free time on the weekends.

This, my friends, is a lifestyle portrait. Photographs taken in a relaxed and meaningful environment that shows a subject(s) true personality and provides a glimpse into their life. You as the photographer has to watch and carefully and stealthily capture the relaxed moments. What's better than capturing those precious moments to be seen for years to come.

The way you want to go about this is different for every subject. For the photographs in this post, I used my zoom of 70-300mm. This way I can stay a good distance from the subjects as not to take away from natural un-posed moments. Staying a good distance away also causes your subject(s) to even forget you're taking their picture. Depending on the time of day, try overexposing the capture and converting to black and white, you can put more emphasis on the subject. Try everything in your bag of tricks. You don't need straight on face shots either. You can try a profile, like I did here. There are no hard rules for a lifestyle shot other than capturing the moment.

So, go out there and find someone to shoot. Ask them what they like to do and where they like to do it. Take them there and start shooting.

What a great blog! It is a pity that I can not find RRS address. If RRS offers a subscription service, I can easily follow your blog!

In the sport's culture now, success is measured with shoe commercials and video game covers. Beautiful and fashionable young people theme of the times! And I like sports shoes! Casual Wear!
